Environmental Flight Planning

The project REACT4C will perform an optimisation approach for alternative or environmental flight planning in order to assess the potential for reducing fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and climate impact from aviation. With the help of climate cost functions for a set of typical meteorological weather situations, environmentally optimised flight trajectories will be calculated. As a side-product the related incremental reduction in emissions and climate change will be estimated. This will allow to estimate the overall mitigation gain of such environmental flight planning with regards to fuel savings, emission reduction and related climate impact.
