Green Aircraft
REACT4C will perform pre-design studies for airframes and engines that
are better suited for environmentally friendly flight trajectories.
These airframes are denoted green aircraft. The pre-design study will
go beyond the ACARE goals of reducing specific CO2 and NOx
emissions,
as will be in the focus of the Clean Sky JTI. Considerations will
concentrate on other options, e.g., on aircraft that fly at lower altitude
with lower cruise speed. The pre-design studies will make use of information
on environmentally friendly flying, which will become available in a
first version in an early phase of the REACT4C project. Specific
emissions from the new "green" (generic) aircraft will be provided
to environmental flight planning and mitigation studies in order to
estimate the additional mitigation to climate change.
